Syslog entries: WARNING: at arch/x86/kernel/apic/ipi.c:109

Featured Replies

I was moving some files from the unraid server to my desktop and noticed this in the sys log. Running Beta14 on hardware in my sig.

This is a completely new error to me, anything I should be concerned about? It almost looks like there was either a drive error, *or* a driver error.

I've attached a complete syslog as well.

The only thing I did was run the mover script about an hour earlier, then copy some files to and from the server.

I do find this bug report @ red hat https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=717211 ... seems to be related to USB devices (of which I have two, a apple keyboard and connection to the APC UPS) ... also related to network dropouts (my ISP has been flaky this evening as well, but this box does not reach outside of the lan - except to check for unraid updates... hrm

did a search, found this post http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=16192.0 that has a very similar error.

Are you using the shared NIC (the one that has IPMI on it as well)?

not sure that is related, but I believe there are threads that say there can be issues with software sharing the IPMI NIC.

edit: never mind - thought that was the same MB as I have with IPMI - appears yours doesn't have it.

Have you tried removing the USB devices?  Does it appear to have any negative effects on the server?

  • Author

It hasn't had any negative effect that I can tell, no reboots, crashes, bad data, but ... that makes me a little nervous. I appears to be benign. *shrug*
