January 20, 20251 yr I recently installed Unraid 7 and also installed an "9211-8i 6G HBA LSI FW:P20 IT Mode" I bought off ebay from a seller with lots of good reviews. I've tried running it with a single new seagate drive and saw there has been resent issues with seagate drives and these types of cards in another post. So I shutdown and restarted with 3 known working drives (two western digital and one seagate) that were on sata and the new drive. None of the drives show up. I see this in my log and lspci.txt files from my diagnostics: Jan 19 15:45:34 Tower kernel: mpt2sas_cm0: LSISAS2008: FWVersion(20.00.07.00), ChipRevision(0x03) Jan 19 15:45:34 Tower kernel: mpt2sas_cm0: Protocol=(Initiator,Target), Capabilities=(TLR,EEDP,Snapshot Buffer,Diag Trace Buffer,Task Set Full,NCQ) 04:00.0 RAID bus controller [0104]: Broadcom / LSI SAS2008 PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS-2 [Falcon] [1000:0072] (rev 03) Subsystem: Fujitsu Technology Solutions HBA Ctrl SAS 6G 0/1 [D2607] [1734:1177] Kernel driver in use: mpt3sas Kernel modules: mpt3sas attached are diagnostics. Any help would be appreciated. Could it possibly not be in IT mode? Thanks, tower-diagnostics-20250119-1549.zip
January 20, 20251 yr The firmware isn't the issue, it is the latest version and in IT mode (Initiator, Target). You don't mention how the drives are connected. If they are connected with a SAS to SATA breakout connector (1 plug in the card, 4 plugs for sata drives) you may accidentally have purchased a reverse breakout cable instead of a forward one, which would mean the drives can't communicate (see here for an explanation). If it is a SAS breakout cable with a wide connector, you might have forgotten the power-cables. And if they are connected with SATA powercables, it may be a 3.3v issue, try a molex-to-sata adapter. January 20, 20251 yr Author Thanks for the reply. It is a SAS to SATA breakout cable. They came with the card. I'll swap it with the other that came with the card. I'll try the molex to SATA adapter later today.
