April 18, 201214 yr Hi All, So I have setup user shares and I am reconverting my movies. I have 7 discs in the new server TVShows - SL3 - Fill Up - Min space 10GB or one season exc disk7 inc disk1,disk2,disk3 etc SDMovies - SL1 - Fill Up - Min Space 4GB exc disk7 inc as above HDMovies - SL1 - Fill Up - Min Space 40GB exc disk7 inc as above I am converting movies (dvd format to mkv) from my old server with handbrake. I setup the que to get the movie from the old server and transfer the file to the new server. So I mapped a share to SDmovies on Win7 (Z:) and then created all the folders for the movies in SDMovies and start handbrake it ran through about three movies and then froze up. What I found is that all the folder I created are on Disk 1 which is 95% full when HB is trying to copy the movie to the folder it is stopping the process due to the disk1 being full but Unraid is not moving the folder and Movie files to the next disk. disk2 has and SDMovie folder and space, disk3 has an SDmovie folder and has space disk 4,5,6 are empty and useable. If I delete the movie created folder and re-create it then copy the movie file over it is fine and seems to move the files. That is taking forever to do one by one. I hope the above is somewhat clear. I am wondering if my Min Space number are correct. would 4GB not be the same as 40GB less a zero. Thanks, D.

If you wanted a min space of 40GB, you would enter 40000000 (roughly)

April 18, 201214 yr A split level of 1 does not allow a movie directory to be split (duplicated) across multiple disks. You posted that you created all the movie directories first. I would have to believe they were all created on disk1 since that was the disk currently in use. So, when you tried to fill the directories, the disk ends up full. The split level does not allow the directory to be duplicated onto another disk. unRAID does not move a directory to another disk if the current disk is full.
April 18, 201214 yr Author Unraid had no problems creating the SDMovies top level folder on disk 2 and disk 3 with a split level of 1. This is why I am confused as to why it created the folders on disk1. I setup my shares from the manual on the wiki with some help from the board here. I am still confused on the KB for MIN. Space. I took the number I posted from the wiki. so 4GB would be 4000000 and 40GB would be 40000000 Thanks, Dave
April 18, 201214 yr If the current disk is disk1 due to the allocation method then the folders get written to disk1. Split level of 1 means the individual movie folder will only be created on a single disk. You description says you created a bunch of directories which will be put on disk1 due to using "fill-up". When you try to put a bunch of files into the empty directories you then run out of space on the disk.
April 18, 201214 yr Author Hi, I have three top level folders - HDMovies, TVShows and SDMovies allowed to access all disks but 7. I just changed the split level to 2 for SDMovies and it seems to be working fine now, it is moving the folder from disk1 to disk3 properly as space is free on that disk currently. Thanks, D.
April 19, 201214 yr OK. It does not move any folders though. You now have empty folders on disk1. You might as well just use a split level like 100 because you're not organizing the data per disk anymore. I would suggest you quite using the fill-up method.
April 22, 201214 yr Author OK so here is what I have done - I am getting more confused with every post. THREE top level 1 shares - SDMovies - High Water - exl disk 4 - inc all others - SL 1 HDmovies - HIgh Water - SAME as above - SL 1 TVShows - Not Sure NOW - I manually edited placement and put all the tv shows back together in proper folders as one show was across three disks. I would like to have all my show remain in the same folder and on the same disk. I set it to high water but not sure if that is good, I guess I will just have to edit them manually to keep them organized. I think I should have just left user share turned off. Thanks, Dave
April 22, 201214 yr SL = 1 for the TV shows too then. Read this if you have not yet done so. http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Un-Official_UnRAID_Manual#User_shares_2
