April 24, 201214 yr Can anyone confirm that this UPS will work properly to shut down the server in the event of a power outage? I just want to make sure before I go buy one. April 24, 201214 yr Yes that will work fine - just load apcupsd and clean powerdown from unmenu and you're good to go. I have a APC Back UPS CS 650, and it works a treat.
April 24, 201214 yr Author Awesome. Thanks for your help. I'm going to have to do a little more research on how to install apcupsd and clean powerdown since I have no clue what I'm doing with this thing sometimes. I'm just thrilled that it sits there and works without me having to intervene.
April 24, 201214 yr It's easy enough - install unmenu from here: http://code.google.com/p/unraid-unmenu/ Then in the Package manager, install those two mentioned packages (it's a couple of clicks.. one to download, one to install, one to set up to reload on reboot). Edit apcupsd parameters on the installation page if you don't like the defaults and away you go.
