Poor VM performance

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am trying to resolve a problem with one of my favorite games, 7 days to die.

My hardware specs:

Asus B550 motherboard + AMD 3950X CPU

32 GB DDR4 memory - 2666 mhz

Nvidia 1070GTX (8GB)

I have assigned 8 cores to my Windows 11 machine, with 20GB of memory using the WIndows 11 TP2 template.

I have assigned no disk from this array to this VM but assigned a complete 2TB Kingston NVME drive for Windows and spare space to install games (in theory this gives the best performance)

I have tried several settings with the core assignments but nothing seems to help to improve performance. (not even a single bit), all without a vbios.

Also I have tried different motherboards, different GPU's and different memory, putting the memory and GPU's in a different slot but nothing seems to help.

I have tried to install a Linux distribution without unraid and even then it doesn't seems to run much better.

I know this game depends on single core performance to run smoother. but even in Unraid I barely see any CPU or GPU load.

Has anybody any idea how I can improve performance? I've got a gut feeling that this game will not perform so well with the last GTX editions from Nvidia.
