Multiple drives missing after MB/CPU hardware upgrade (related to LSI 9211-8i HBA??)

Featured Replies

I recently upgraded my 15 year old computer that was running my Unraid server. I now am running an Intel 265k and Asus AYW Gaming motherboard. I had an LSI 9211-8i HBA working fine on my old machine, but something is not working right currently. It is only seeing four of the seven drives that are connected to it. I have tried swapping the SATA and power cables from known working drives that are also attached to the HBA, but am not getting different results.

Is there maybe some BIOIS configuration change that I need to make in order for the HBA to work fully? I do see the HBA in the BIOS, and it says it only has four drives connected there as well. The disconnected drives are split between each of the mini SAS ports, so it's not related to one of the mini SAS cables being not fully connected.

for posterity, I solved my own problem shortly after posting about it. I just forgot to put the SATA power adapters back in line for those three drives. They are all Ultrastar HC520 drives that require a couple of the pins to be covered with tape (or for these adapters that ServerPartDeals included).
