Upgrade 4.7 to 5.0 RC3 and reverting back

If I upgrade to 5.0 RC3 from 4.7 which is working fine for me; Can I easily revert back to 4.7 (I have tw flash drives with proper licensing so I can build 5.0 RC3 on the second flash drive and save the 4.7 Flash drive)?

 

My system has 12 HDD slots, all of a hot swap nature. Six of them (Parity plus five data) are in the Array, Three have Hot Spares which are installed, pre-cleared but not in the array, and three are empty. All drives are Hitachi 2TB.

 

On moving to 5.0 should I pull the Hot Spare drives or leave them the way they are or first add them to the Array? As far as I can tell it should not matter but I would like some confirmation.
