Broadcom 9600-24i Expander Issue

Featured Replies

Hi I am having some compatibility issues regarding the broadcom 9600-24i and the Linkreal LRSACX36 -24IE SAS Expander using the 35X36 chipset from Broadcom as well.

Im getting some Faulty state as well from the expander. However I was able to connect drives directly to the HBA card and faced no issues. Only when the expander was introduced then the issues began as I connected drives directly to that expander. Am a new homelab user but am familar with Linux in general.

I spoke with the seller whom I got the expander card from and on his 9500-16i it is working and that I need to set the personality to HBA but currently its locked to eHBA as shown in this blog post.

The drives can be seen from the LSI Storage Authority Application but shows them to be in an unconfigured bad state. I bought this as I believed that Broadcom based products should be able to work easily with other products.

Was wondering if anyone has a working expander with the 9600-24i card. Thanks.

Thank you everyone for your help ☺️ .
