February 28Feb 28 California Assembly Bill 1043, known as the Digital Age Assurance Act, was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom in October 2025 and will become operative on January 1, 2027. The law aims to enhance online safety for minors by requiring operating system (OS) providers and applications to implement a "signal" system that indicates a user's age range to apps. How will this affect Unraid, community apps and plug ins since headquarters is in California? Sunday at 10:26 AM2 days I certainly hope that the reply will be a raised single finger. Even though this is more widespread of a requirement than California (EU and UK are also having their autocratic momentum and will both introduce digital ID as a precursor to digital currency), I will NOT have ANY device or equipment supporting such spyware. I'd rather do without internet services requiring it. Mind you, I am way over 50 years old, so it's not an age-restriction that I am complaining about.Free and open source will prevail. Not dictatorship posing as "protection" of minors.
