Tailscale feels quite useful. Feels like (LogMeIn) Hamachi. Which eventually went paid. Is a paid model the future for Tailscale ?

I think I'd pay for Tailscale. But I wonder how much it would cost.

Implement Headscale. You can self host or use VPS. There are no user or device restrictions.

Headscale is an open-source, self-hosted implementation of the Tailscale control server, allowing users to manage their own Tailscale network (tailnet) without relying on Tailscale’s hosted infrastructure. It acts as a self-hosted alternative to the coordination server, while still using the official Tailscale client software on devices for secure, mesh networking.

Tailscale changed their plans today! The personal plan is "Free Forever" and went from 3 users to 6 users. 100 devices to unlimited devices. Headscale is also free, a little more difficult to setup than Tailscale.
