June 23Jun 23 Hi everyone, I am completely new to the NAS world. I bought a Ugreen 4800pro because I wanted more options than Synology and other propriety options offered for hardware and flexibility. I had a fun month learning the basics, and had my issues figuring things out, but finally got everything sorted and running to replace Google. My phones run GrapheneOS, and the goal is a secure, private ecosystem to connect all devices and backup up media and data, and organize the endless photo files on all devices. 3 days after I moved from the NAS to the phone to sync things up, UGOS drops an update that locked me out of my own setup. Fought is for hours only to find online posts saying it was the update and I lost all faith in UGOS. I looked at all other options and Unraid seemed to be the logical choice for me. Out of the box it was a night and day difference and I love the potential I have, but Tailscale is the foundation of my set up and I have been fighting it from day 1. I am on 7.31, and I installed the boot on my NVME. The first install of the plugin seems to have failed because I needed to do a work around and install the files on the NVME to get it so shift from tailscale not ready, not in boot. I ended up moving from there to a docker install, and back to the plugin. My knowledge is limited, especially with terminal so I Google a lot, and use youtube to follow installs. I can't for the life of me get Tailscale to work on its most basic level. Everything is running and ports are open, but I can't use the tailscale ip on the home network or the url and I need this for the seamless home/remote transfer. Syncthing is transferring my pictures and immich is displaying across devices. The other day I did have remote access on my phone data, but still couldn't access it from the Starlink network. Starlink is the ISP, it is connected via cable to a deco router in router mode. I have tried to run Starlink in bypass, but end up with a factory reset every time. My router, and it was another brand previous, fails to claim the network. I am running Mullvad on the deco, but I have gone bare bones to eliminate all question marks. removing adguard and mullvad to ensure they are not causing the conflicts. I keep coming at it from different angles, but eventually Google ends up running me in the same loops. Turn off ssl, allow tailscale interface extras. set exit node, advertise subnets. The last one was a VPS was gonna solve all of my problems, but the foundational block stays locked in place no matter how I approach itThis worked on Ugos, but what I am told is that unraid has stricter networking rules and blocks the tailscale address and I am stuck in a hairpin NAT loopback. Starlink is CGNAT, Tailscale shares the same IP address space, but I have changed it. I am nit sure if this is the reality or if I have a corrupt install of Unraid that is just stuck and that is why I can't break through. Everything pings fine, shows tailnet connection in the admin console just not access to link up with the ip or url. I don't want to open any ports because with my limited knowledge I would like to leave things a tight as I can, I also don't want a cloudflare tunnel decrypting my data. I have an embarrassing amount of hours invested in this and I would appreciate any help you can offer. I have done my absolute best to navigate it on my own, and I have attached the diagnostics as requested in case that helps. Thanks in advance. nas-home-diagnostics-20260623-0830.zip
