Mounting UFS formatted drive

Featured Replies

I finally have my unraid server up and running, and I'm ready to migrate my data over to unraid.  I'm coming from FreeNAS 8, which uses the UFS file system.  I have ~1TB of data on an external 2TB USB 2.0 HDD.

My original plan was to setup rsync server on unraid and push the data that way.  However, my freenas box will now no longer boot - I even loaded a fresh install onto the USB of freenas to start over (all I need from it is to get my data), but nonetheless I can't get it to boot.

Instead of banging my head all day trying to setup a nas OS that I'll never use again just for 1TB of data migration, I was hoping I could just mount the USB HDD my data is installed on on the unraid box - can unraid mount (at least read-only) a UFS-formatted disc?

If not, is anyone aware of an easy way to build a quick-n-dirty bootable USB stick with the capability to mount a UFS drive and rsync (perhaps some other minimal FreeBSD boost image, etc.)?

Nice, I wasn't aware of that tool.  If I can't mount it directly, I do have a windows xp netbook I could plug into the network and leave on to transfer with.  Thanks for that!  I do like he idea of mounting it directly, but if I can't, this'll do just fine :)
