Replace Bad Disk without parity [Solved]

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

What the method of starting the array without one disk, I was rebuilding my array without parity dude to speed reasons, now one of the disks i copied data has issues and I replaced it however even when I assisng the new disk it wont let me start the array as it's still looking for the old one stating it's the wrong disk, any help? I'm pretty sure there's some command for it.

Regards,

Mark

Did you once have a parity disk assigned?  If so, you now have two bad/missing/wrong disks.

You need to set a new disk configuration.  (Utils->new Config)

It will immediately invalidate parity, so whatever was on the bad disk will not be able to be re-constructed onto the replacement.

Yes I did i took it out so the copies go faster.

That is often a false economy.  You  must then verify the copies by reading them and comparing them to the originals to ensure the files written can be subsequently read.

With a parity drive, even if the disk has an un-readable sector, the parity disk would allow the file to be re-constructed and re-allocated by the SMART firmware in combination with unRAID parity handling.
