November 6, 201213 yr I'm on 4.7 right now and shortly after it fully boots, I get a kernel panic. I thought maybe it was due to a drive that might be on it's last leg, so I unplugged it and was able to access the web gui, but when I started the array without the missing disk it caused another kernel panic. I can't attach a log because I can't make the server stable enough to pull one. I'm going to try and see if I can capture the Kernel Panic - Not syncing, error message in the mean time.
November 6, 201213 yr Author okay to add to that. I've unplugged my Marvell Sata card which has caused unraid to not see drives 9/10/11/12 and it works fine. Going to try and isolate this to one disk at this time.

November 6, 201213 yr Problem is Disk 11, but why would a single disk cause unraid to kernel panic....? A corrupt file system can cause a panic. Run as described in the wiki... reiserfsck --check /dev/md11 (for disk 11) Joe L.

November 7, 201213 yr How can this command be run on the drive if it causes a kernel panic when the drive is plugged into the system? Before you do anything, run a memory check. It is by far the biggest cause of panics of Linux. Most BIOS set the clock speed, timing, and voltage for the your specific make/model RAM correctly. Some do not, especially with premium RAM which often needs special settings. Then, leave the disk disconnected. Power up, start the array, run the reiserfsck on /dev/md11 (it is run on the simulated drive and will take longer because of that, but it will run. If it corrects the file-system, great. Then, power down and re-install (and re-assign if needed) the physical disk. unRAID will re-construct the disk onto itself, complete with the fixed file-system. Joe L.
