apcupd slave config setup

Featured Replies

Hey All,

I finally moved my new server into the rack and of course got rid of the old one. I had to reset apcupsd on the 2nd server (data) in the process. so I have three server as so

mediaserver - master (usb connected)

tower2 - slave1 net connected

mythmaster - slave2 - net connected

I am running a smart ups 2200. How should I setup the variables for timeout - battery and shutdown params and in what sequence.

I should have wrote it down but forgot in the whole process.

thanks,

Dave

It is NOT a sequence.  They are treated as which ever occurs FIRST will trigger a shutdown.

Therefore, the "master" (connected directly to the UPS, and shutting it down when it decides it is time) should have longer times.

The slave devices should start their shutdown sooner and be finished shutting down before the master.

If the "remaining runtime" trigger is set to 5 minutes on the master, set it to 10 on the slaves.

If the "percentage battery" trigger is set to 10 percent on the master, set it to 20 on the slaves

If the "outage time" trigger is set to 300 on the master, set it to 200 on the slaves.

the goal is to have the slaves finish their shutdowns prior to the master finishing its, and the master subsequently telling the UPS to shut itself and conserve the remaining battery it might have.
