January 25, 201313 yr Hello. I have the following array - 14 drives total with 1 that is parity (version: 5.0-beta14). I had removed 4 total hard drives from the array (1 was bad - had errors, but I was able to browse and save the data, and 3 drives were never used). I replaced the 3 unused drives with 3 new drives, so I am currently running with 13 drives total - 12 data and 1 parity. The array is up and available, and the data on the existing disks appears to be fine. I have formatted the 3 new hard drives. I know my parity is not correct, but I don't see an option on the webpage to start parity. My goal is to retain the data that is on the existing drives and get the array back to a function and protected state. In searching I found the following, but wanted to run it by you guys/gals before I kick it off in the event that it isn't what I think it is and that it will harm my existing data... (from http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=15624.0) "just type initconfig answer "Yes" all the indicators will be blue, then start the array. Parity will be calculated on the new disk configuration." Will this maintain my existing data, and start parity? Thanks.
January 25, 201313 yr You cannot do anything to parity with a missing drive. That is why the button does not show itself. You can set a new disk configuration based on the currently assigned and working disks and then recalc parity. On your version of unRAID, there is a button that can be used instead of the commands you listed. It is on the "Utils" tab and named "New Config" Joe L.
