February 17, 201313 yr Followed the configuration wiki got everything pre cleared and array started. Not that I quite understood everything but think ill get hang of it. Right now I just have 2 2tb WD Reds. One will be parity other data. Where do I go next? I'm not quite grasping the idea of adding ad dons. I would like to get into usenet( been reading some about it not to much though). I like the idea of having thongs automated when I actually figure out how to use them. For now I will start ripping my own blu ray collection. Now I know this will be done on my htpc, it has a 120gb ssd. Will I be wanting to rip here then dag over to array or rip directly to unRaid? Do I create the directory on my htpc or is there a addon that will get all metadata? I've browsed through wiki and forum and I'm sure I've missed the guide that explains he next step. But if anyone can point me in right direction would be great. And I'm sure I will have plenty more questions. Thank you all.
February 17, 201313 yr I have zero knowledge of unraid (yet, getting my server either this week or next week. Stupid free delivered takes forever, still waiting in MOBO/PSU/EverythingElseOtherThanTheHDDsAndCase), however, I do know enough about usenet, I've only used it since ~ August 2012, but, eh. Anyway, basically this is how it works (At-least, in my set up. I'm sure you can use other downloaders/grabbers/etc):- 1. SickBeard is for TV shows, this downloads nothing. All it does it search for shows, if it finds it, forwards it onto your download. 2. CouchPotato is for Movies, this is the exact same as SickBeard, however for movies. Once again, this downloads nothing and just forwards the request onto your downloaders 3. Sabnzbd is your downloader, this just receives XML documents in a .nzb file type, reads them, connects to your usenet provider and downloads them. Sabnzbd has an option to run a file with certain parameters upon certain events firing, sickbeard takes use of this and makes you register the "Download complete" event with it's automatic organizing .py file, however, CouchPotato does not. CouchPotato works by constantly (E.G. every 5 or so minutes) scanning a disk to see if new files exist (Not so great), however, here's a 3rd party mod to get around it (not looked into it much, not sure if it's multi os/even works):- https://github.com/clinton-hall/nzbToMedia Not really sure what else to explain, set up tutorials can be found all over google. Not related to the above:- Can I ask why you bought a server for only 2TB worth of data? I had 9TB in my windows desktop build (3*1TB, 2*3TB) before upgrading, and, I only did that because I had no space left on my drives and my case/mobo were full, so, I'd either need to upgrade both my case & mobo, or, buy a server. In this case a server sounded more practical than upgrading my entire build to fit more HDDs in it
February 17, 201313 yr Author Thanks for some knowledge. As for the part for only 2tb, I def plan to add more. I built a new htpc and server at same time so didn't have all the funds to purchase extra HDs. Plan on filling this one up quick so will be purchasing more and then getting paid licensed. Just wanted to get my feet wet and see what all about before jumping all in.

Fair enough, I myself didn't get to try the free license (Jumped right in with pro). I tested it for ~ two hours via VMware, but, I had no machines/hard drives I was willing to completely erase for a real test.
