Officially EARS free? Or am I?

Featured Replies

These WD EARS drives have been terrible for me reliability wise.  Just had my last one start to get errors, so without hesitation I went to the WD site and found that it was still within warranty by 10 days.  I've had 4 of them go in 3 years, while none of my other drives (including WD ones) have had any issues.  The good thing is they were all still under warranty, and WD replaces them with something other than EARS...but I have to wonder if they are just EARS that were rebuilt and rebadged as something else?  Two of the replacements that I know of are EARX and EZRX.

In any event, if any of you have EARS drives coming up on the end of the warranty, you might want to take advantage of replacement while you still can.
