1 vs 2 power supplies

Featured Replies

So I've got my parts on order for my upgrade and the new mobo has a 24 pin power connector on it.  The manual says a 20 pin power supply is fine.

I currently have 2 300 Sparkle power supplies in my build.  Do you think I should move over to just 1 single power supply?

I was thinking this 650W one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371015&Tpk=ea650%20antec

I've read some other posts and the wiki and in my opinion I don't really any other opinions?

Thanks

Erik

For $20 less cost (after rebate), a better supply (quieter, I think) with one 12 volt supply rail vs. 3 is the CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W supply.

It is the one most favored in these forums for large arrays.

UPS just delivered one to me about 20 minutes ago, and if the weight of the box is any indication of its power, it is going to be great.

Looks good Joe too bad I didn't think about a power supply at the beginning of the week.  The one I linked I found local for less then neweggs price and I really want to set this system up this weekend.  Guess I might just stay with the 2 I have and upgrade later down the line.  I've read some more and the 20 pin connection should be fine since I don't have any PCI-E cards yet and can place the 5 drives I have on the non-mobo supply
