Confirming Cache disk setup

Featured Replies

OK, so I simply want to confirm that the way I have things configured is accurate.

I currently run SAB and Sick on a linux VM.  Go back and forth over the debate to put them on unraid direct, but for now it is like this.

I mount my shares to the linux server and the applications do the rest.  I used to not have a cache drive so everything just did its thing and it worked.  Last night, the first time with cache, some things seemed to fail and I suspect it is because the mover script was at work.  So, I wanted to ensure that all the file SAB was using remain untouched.

So, I mounted the cache folder to my linux server as well, created a new folder ".SAB", so with the period and changed the paths in the applications.  If I am understanding things correctly, this will exclude the .SAB directory from the mover script so as to not mess things up.  Then, when sickbeard runs, it knows the files are complete and will grab them and move them accordingly to the normal directories on the cache drive.  Then when the mover runs, it is only touching and moving files that are in their final resting place per say.

I hope that makes sense.  Essentially I changed my apps to point to a new folder on the cache drive that starts with a period.

Why not have sab download to the Linux vm then move the completed files to unraid?

No other reason than the space on the VM is limited...
