Im trying to setup mysql on my unraid server so i can have a central database for my xbmc machines.

I have installed mysql but i am unable log in and keep getting error 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@localhost'

I have tried reinstalling mysql a number of times and its still doing it! Can anyone help please?

You're using the wrong command. Try the following:

mysql -u root -p

  • Author

That was the first thing ive tried and get the same error message.

Ive tried various different commands including

mysql -u root -p

mysql -u root -p root

mysql -p

mysql -p root

mysqladmin -u root -p

mysqladmin -u root -p root

mysqladmin -p

mysqladmin -p root
