MySQL on cache drive, reboot issues

Featured Replies

So I'm clearly doing something wrong.

I'm using the latest unRAID 5 version  and I have the unMENU package of MySQL installed (I tried a few different plugins but couldn't get any of them to work at all) and it seems to all be ok.  I have it installed to /mnt/cache/mysql.

What I don't understand is how that is suppose to work after a reboot.  When I reboot, MySQL re-installs itself but of course the cache drive hasn't mounted yet as the array hasn't started.  This obviously caused me to have a fresh install every time, which means I have to re-import my XBMC library and grant permissions to the xbmc user every reboot.

Sickbeard and SAB don't start until I start the array, which works fine as the drive they install is then mounted.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

i am running mine in the same way (via unMenu) and dont have this problem. Although I've been doing clean powerdowns.

what i do before a reboot (i.e. to upgrade to 5.0.4) was manually stop CouchPotato, SickBeard, Transmission via the Settings menu in the webGUI.

then i telnet in and type:

killall mysqld

then i reboot, everything comes up fine, database works and updates a'ok.

PS. I also tried the 5.0 plugins and they didnt work. the service installed, but wouldnt start.

Hmm.  How is mysql finding the database on boot if the cache isn't mounted when it starts?

I think what mine seems to be doing is creating the /mnt/cache to install MySQL and then when I start the array it mounts around that.

Does your array start automatically on boot or do you start it manually once everything is up?

not sure why it seems to have cache up before, array auto starts.
