New HDD (cleared, formatted, files copied onto) not showing up in the array

Featured Replies

Unraid version 5.0.4

So, having some free storage problems, bought a new HDD. As I was having 3 HDDs in array, 4th HDD could not be put in the array without a licence.

I bought one, copied on a USB, restarted, and everything looked just fine.

New HDD added to array, cleared, and formatted. Then I started to copy some files on that HDD (not on a user share).

Everything worked great, until i restarted the Unraid PC.

The new HDD wasnt in the array, and when I try to assign it, Unraid shows it as unformatted (blue dot).

Did use some reiserfsck commands on it (-check, -scan-whole-partition and -rebuild-tree). Found some errors, they were repaired.

When I try to mount it manually, I can see all the files and folders there, as nothing is lost.

Is there a way to force the disk for Unraid to think it is a part of array, not needing a format? Maybe start a new config, assign disks as they were before?

Was messing with it a few days, thought I will solve the problem, but I am stuck here.

There's something in error on your USB drive... (Syslog line #679+).

Did you try running Disk Utility (Mac) or CheckDisk (chkdsk?) (PC) on your USB drive?

Can't tell the root cause. Files on the USB drive are 'open' whenever unRAID is running, so be sure to shutdown or restart properly.
