February 17, 201412 yr Forgive me if this has come up in previous threads. I search did not turn anything up. I wanted to inquire about an unusual reading when getting folder properties in windows. Here's what I've done. I have 2 folders that are stored on a traditional Ubuntu-based files server. I moved these folders to an UnRAID server. I then deleted a couple of files from within them. Afterward, I pulled up the properties of each folder via samba on each server. When doing so I get drastically different readings for the "Size on Disk" attribute. Whereas the "Actual Size" reading closely matches on each server (slight difference to account for the file deletion), the "Size on Disk" on the traditional server is very close to the "Actual Size" for both folders. The "Size on Disk" on the UnRAID server is more than double the "Actual Size" for each folder. While I'm not terribly concerned by this, since the actual disk usage appears to be correct based on space remaining on the UnRAID array, I was hoping someone could enlighten me as to the reason the occur. Thanks for you insights.
