February 26, 201412 yr Hello everyone. I've been trying Unraid 6.0 and everything runs fine. However when I try to install a VM using Xen I get a bootloader error (or at leats that's what I think it is). On a clean install of Unraid 6, loaded with Unraid/Xen, this is what happens when I follow ironicbadger guide to install Arch Linux. I've tried this a few times now and always get the same error. I follow every step as instructed until it's time to install the OS. I get this error message: root@Tower:/mnt/disk1/vm/arch/ArchVM# xl create arch.cfg Parsing config from arch.cfg libxl: error: libxl_bootloader.c:628:bootloader_finished: bootloader failed - consult logfile /var/log/xen/bootloader.1.log libxl: error: libxl_exec.c:118:libxl_report_child_exitstatus: bootloader [2022] exited with error status 1 libxl: error: libxl_create.c:900:domcreate_rebuild_done: cannot (re-)build domain: -3 And the log file it refers to: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib64/xen/bin/pygrub", line 877, in <module> raise RuntimeError, "Unable to find partition containing kernel" RuntimeError: Unable to find partition containing kernel And here is the .cfg file: name = "archVM" bootloader = "pygrub" memory = 1024 vcpus = 1 disk = [ 'phy:/mnt/disk1/vm/arch/ArchVM/arch.img,xvdb,w', ] vif = [ 'mac=00:16:3e:c1:c2:c3,bridge=br0' ] bootloader = "pygrub" I've also tried installing ubuntu but got the same results. Any help would be appreciated.
February 26, 201412 yr Look at your config file, and change this line 'phy:/mnt/disk1/vm/arch/ArchVM/arch.img,xvdb,w', to this 'file:/mnt/disk1/vm/arch/ArchVM/arch.img,xvda,w', I think it's looking for the first hard drive, but can't find one because you've told it that it's the second drive (xvdb). Make sense?
February 26, 201412 yr Author Finally found the solution. After watching your videos carefully I noticed your unzipped img file was over 14Gb, whereas mine was only 6Gb, so I think there was some sort of error unzipping the file. With the full file it loaded fine.
