January 27, 200917 yr I just built an unRaid server. 4.4.2 pro version. GA-EP35-DS3R Hitachi Deskstar 1TB X3 (1 for parity) 1 100GB WD IDE for cache drive. The problem is that the cache drive seems never work. It is always in ideal mode and spin down. I copied all type of data to the array. Large set, small set, etc. The cache drive never works. The data was just copied to data disk and parity drive directly. (All read/write activities is on the parity and data drive. No data activity in the cache drive and the cache drive is always blink green light) What could be the problem? Thanks.
January 27, 200917 yr It's not clear from your post whether or not you are writing to a User Share or directly to a data disk. The Cache drive only helps when writing to a User Share, and, as was mentioned above, that Share is configured to use the Cache drive.
