Hi All,

 

I'm trying to trouble shoot a pretty complex problem I'm having. Everything is running inside ESXi so I might have to try running vanilla next. I know this might not be the correct forum but here goes.

 

Everything has been working fine until recently. When I'm playing a video file (seems to be larger ones) and copying large amounts (can be large file or lots of little ones) to and from the server sometimes I get freezes. It's random and not always. Reboot seems to fix it for a while.

 

One thing I've just noticed at the moment is that CPU utilisation seems to hit 90-100% when the freeze occurs (unRaid VM only), when it drops everything goes again. (Normally when streaming around 30-50%)

Nothing pops up on the syslog.

All other utilisations are about the same, all other VMs fairly stable.

 

Is there anything that might cause 100% CPU utilisation?

Okay, Learning more and this post seems very similar. I'm going to close this thread and necro that one once I try the irq issues if I still have problems.

 

My smbd process is hitting above 80%cpu and that coinsides with everything slowing down.

Okay it was an irq issue for anyone in future who is searching. Disabled the usb3 and it send better now.
