notify me of a bad drive?

Featured Replies

i think i know the answer to this but is there any way to get notified of a dead drive via email or something?  if not, perhaps that would be a cool feature for the next version.

bdee1, please don't take offense, but maybe spend some quality time reviewing old posts and searching.

Glad to see you're enjoying uNRAID though!

yea no offense taken - you got me - i didnt search first - i will have to spend some time tonight reading some old posts.

Notification of PCs on your LAN of unRaid status is possible with this script:

As already mentioned, lots for you to read on this site... email notification is on the future-feature-laundry-list.

Email notification of drive failure/array issues is possible with this script http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=911.msg6151#msg6151 (a modified version of Joe L.'s Yac script :)).  I also use it to provide full status updates on a weekly basis (full output of /proc/mdcmd).

It does require the existence of an existing smtp server whether on your LAN or the internet (or even on your unRAID box if you care to set it up).
