How do I uninstall Proftpd on 6.0 Beta4?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Well, things didn't go well trying to install the latest ProFTPd on my 6.0Beta4 install.

the OEM ftp worked, I just wanted more than 1 user and more security.  However, now I would like to revert back to the original config.  I know proftpd puts files in various places, and makes directories and log files.  So my question for the group is:  How can I completely uninstall proftpd and remove all traces of it?

I tried the obvious:  /boot/config and /boot.packages.  After removing all the files that look like they belonged to proftpd, I still have the ICON in the GUI, and the stock FTP does not start.

It was easy enough install all my add-ons, so maybe it would be easier to make a fresh config?  If I need to do that, will the typical UTILITIES-NEW CONFIG work for this, or will there still be leftover parts?  I am confident that my data survives through this process, I have reset my config several times.

Other than the unMENU, I run the SMTP server with the daily status email, and the APC powerdown add-ons.  If there is another FTP server I can use, I am all ears.  I have the GCC complier install, and I think my Linux knowledge is workable (I work for Sourcefire).

Thanks,

Dave
