Questions about unRAID

Featured Replies

I am interested in getting unRAID but I have a few questions that I was hoping someone could answer

-How stable is unRAID? Has it caused anyone to completely lose their data?

-What are the write speeds like? For example, how long does it take to write 2GB to the server. This is of course over gigabit lan with jumbo frames.

-How about read speeds? Can it handle 3 concurrent HD streams to different computers? (extreme case)

-By now unRAID is on version 3, will it continue to be around?

-One of the things that scares me is that the program can only be run from a flash drive whose serial number it is registered under. What happens if the flash drive fails? Will I be out of $100 ($25 for the flash drive and $75 for the program if I buy 2 Pro versions)

-Are upgrades free or do we have to pay?

-When will there be support for 16 drives? Theoretically that is how much I can put in my CM Stacker.

-When will there be support for multiple failures? Something like a RAID6.

-Will the developer every be able to implement this in Windows? I imagine if he did it would be very successful. ;)

If I have more questions I will post them.

Thanks in advance.

cool_runner,

I suggest that you use the FAQ and unRaid descriptions on the lime-technology website first to answer your questions.

If you still need amplification of any particular aspect of the unRaid system, then do a post.

Just a thought.

TCIII
