July 26, 201411 yr Hello All! I'm new to Unraid and XenServer, but I'm been using Ubuntu for a few years now. I'm really hoping to get my new Unraid OS working on XenServer. I have a few questions to decide whether it's even viable. I have about 10 hard drives, but I don't have any hardware that supports VTD or IOMMU, I only have vt-x. So I can't use PCI passthrough. Can I virtualize unraid in XenServer just by giving removable access to the disk or any other way without buying a new motherboard and cpu? Is there a guide for this? I was able to give my ubuntu vm access to a drive. Will I lose smart capability? Also, I want to know how the data is stored. So if I decide that I want to move from the vm to bare metal, will I have to copy all my my data on the drives over. What if I get a new board and chip, will the data on the drives have to be copied over? I really appreciate the tips!
