July 29, 201411 yr Hello, i have i very strange problem. I build an new unraid server and want to use the old one for backup the new one. To start completly new, i formatted the usbstick and installed the new unraidsoftware (beta6). Everything starts fine, the webgui come up and i can change everythin without password. But if i want to login via telnet i have to input an password. But i have none and so is an login not possible. Only if i input an password vie the webgui, then is an login via telnet also possible. If i delete the password in the webgui, than i if again to input one in the telnet mask. How can i change this behaviour? I dont want to input an password, so that rsync is easier. Thanks for your help! Peter
July 29, 201411 yr Can't you just not type anything when it prompts you for a password and hit enter? Will that not work? What are you using to telnet into your box?
July 29, 201411 yr Author This is the strange thing. I can input nothing and press only return. Than he replies "Acces denied" and is asking for the password. Also if i change the password in the webgui to nothing, an password is via telnet required. But no access granted. i use putty in windows. i have also tried to telnet via the tower per ssh to the backup server with: ssh backup and he still wants an password. i have many times deleted the usbstick, but the behaviour is always the same. really strange is also, when the usbstick is plain and only the "freeversion", an password is also required. the difference in the login i recognize is: the Tower-Server prompts: Tower login: the Backup-Serverprompts: login as: could it be, that the Backup-Server has no parity disc and this is causing problems? Can you help me with my problem?
July 29, 201411 yr I do not have a root password set on my unRaid system. When I telnet in using putty, it prompts me for my login, and I type "root" and press Enter. It then asks for my password, and I just press Enter and it logs me in successfully.
