July 31, 201411 yr I've been playing with XEN virtualisation for a few betas now. I had a couple of windows VM's setup with pass through and a Pfsense VM with an additional nic passed through in beta 5 and 5a all was working fairly well. When i moved to to Beta 6 these VM's stopped working so i thought it might be a good time to try KVM, anyway it took me a while to get my head around KVM and i ended up giving up due to a problem i was getting when passing through PCI devices. I walked away from virtualisation for a while and have since come back to XEN to try again but i'm getting exactly the same problem in XEN as i did with KVM while trying to pass through a device. The error I'm getting is below. Parsing config from windows.cfg libxl: error: libxl_pci.c:992:libxl__device_pci_reset: Failed to access reset path /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.0/reset: Read-only file system libxl: error: libxl_qmp.c:287:qmp_handle_error_response: received an error message from QMP server: Device initialization failed. libxl: error: libxl_pci.c:992:libxl__device_pci_reset: Failed to access reset path /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.1/reset: Read-only file system libxl: error: libxl_qmp.c:287:qmp_handle_error_response: received an error message from QMP server: Device initialization failed. has anyone seen this Read-only file system error before and do you know how to fix it, i don't want to go back to beta5a as docker is great and i have few containers humming away nicely.
