Plex setup Question

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Apologies if this isnt the best place to ask this.  I searched and cant seem to find any info specific to my issue/proposed setup.

I have two unraid servers online.  One stores all of my movie, TV, music files, etc.  The other basically is just for misc backup and that is it.  However it is a bit more "powerful" as far as specs so I would like to run the plex server on that machine.

My question is how do i set up plex server to look to the other machine for files to add to the library.  In plex setup it seems to want to find the files on that same machine.

Can this be done?  Do I use IP addresses?  Or the common local lan path?  Or do I need to do something else?

Thanks for any help or further reading anyone can provide.  Running Unraid 6.0 beta 6 and using PhAzE's plugin.

Simple really

I run a similar setup with 2 PMS

The machine (unraid) that contains all your media files publishes a share.

the other machine running PMS mounts that share so it can access the content.

In PMS add a section and point it to the mount point

Done.

Your implementation may vary as I am running  PMS on a mac mini (2006) and on my unraid server for content separation (ie adult vs kids)

But that is the core of how to do it
