November 20, 201411 yr Haven't bought any Seagate external HDs from Costco in about a year ... but at $25 off, that brings the price down to around $119, I think? Sale runs Nov 28th thru Nov 30th. Link to full ad: http://www.costco.com/black-friday.html
November 21, 201411 yr It's cut off at the bottom, but this ad would indicate that it may be $25 off $139.99 - https://blackfriday.com/stores/costco/flyers/black-friday/page-2
November 24, 201411 yr Author It's cut off at the bottom, but this ad would indicate that it may be $25 off $139.99 - https://blackfriday.com/stores/costco/flyers/black-friday/page-2 I was at my local Costco (Fountain Valley) today and they were listed at $139.99 on the shelf. So yeah, $115 should be what we're looking at on Friday.
November 25, 201411 yr are these drives safe to break open and use as internals? Also, does anyone know the specific model? I would love to get BB or Walmart or Target to price match it.
November 28, 201411 yr Author are these drives safe to break open and use as internals? Also, does anyone know the specific model? I would love to get BB or Walmart or Target to price match it. About a year ago they were easy to open (and reclose!), and contained the ST4000DM000 (5900rpm) 4TB Seagate drive. Some of the older stock were the ST4000DX000 (7200rpm), which ended up being too hot for my unRaid setup. Costco took 'em back, fantastic return policy! Does BB/Walmart/Target pricematch a $25 off coupon? What's the base price over there? I will try to get some drives this weekend, and will post results once I have a chance to scan them...
December 1, 201411 yr Author Okay, so I went to the Fountain Valley Costco and they were sold out. I managed to nab 5 from the Huntington Beach Costco, though. I opened one up, and the casing is very different from the older ones where you could just pull off the USB mount and access the SATA drive directly. I haven't found a guide on how to open this case just yet, and my own attempts haven't been particularly successful so the best I can do is connect via USB. unRaid (unMenu) listed the drive as: usb-Seagate_Backup+_Desk_NA7DDEHM-0:0 ... with the "NA7" number being the serial number off the box. Anyone have any experience opening one of these new blue cases?
