You can never have enough ports, or be too thin . Even if you don't use the extra ports now, who knows what the future will bring. Quote Link to comment
lionelhutz
This one is 4 ports and a little cheaper than the one you linked - this assumes you have a PCIe x4 lot available. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816132018&Tpk=N82E16816132018 Peter Quote Link to comment
vca
I went with two of these cards from monoprice.com: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10407&cs_id=1040702&p_id=2530&seq=1&format=2 they are based on the Silicon Image SIL3132 and a number of other unRAID users have recommended them in the past. I did update the cards' firmware before using them. They work very well, and for $14 they are a great deal. Regards, Stephen Quote Link to comment

BryantD
"Why did you do a FW uppgrade ? and did you do the FW uppgrade from unRAID server?" If it had the Raid bios installed unRAID will not see it. The Base bios is what you want. Here is the link: http://www.siliconimage.com/support/searchresults.aspx?pid=32&cat=15 Use the 7.7.02 version. Use a Windows computer to upgrade the Bios. Quote Link to comment

Yup, that's about it, all the posters who recommended them said to re-flash them to the base bios. I installed the cards, one at a time, in one of my windows boxes and flashed them there before installing them into the unraid box. Stephen Quote Link to comment
