VSFTPD Help

Featured Replies

I have searched the forum and internet, but can't get vsftpd to work properly. I have attached my vsftpd.conf. I am using Filezilla as an anonymous user from another computer on the network. I have attached my vsftpd.conf file. I have created a RSA cert with openssl (openssl-0.9.8g-i486-1.tgz). There is a ftp user in my passwd file. I type "/etc/rc.d/rc.inetd restart" to apply my changes, but I'm still stuck.

Response:	fzSftp started
Command:	open "[email protected]" 22
Command:	Trust new Hostkey: Once
Command:	Pass: **************
Error:	Authentication failed.
Error:	Critical error
Error:	Could not connect to server

The forums have been buzzing because of the beta releases. Maybe this was overlooked. I'm not new to running a ftp server, but still don't know why I can't get vsftpd working (or proftpd). I have a 'ftp' user with a home directory set correctly (I think). The permissions on the directory are set too. At least with proftpd I could login, but couldn't get the folders I wanted to show up (let alone sftp wouldn't work). At least with vsftpd, the secure part seems to work. Everything seems in order (allow_anon_ssl=YES, force_anon_data_ssl=NO, and force_anon_logins_ssl=NO). Logs arn't created either.
