[Fixed] N00b can't boot

Featured Replies

Fixed by upgrading the MB bios. Post about fix here

Trying to give unraid a chance on a new machine I put together to act as a NAS.

I tried 4.5 with both the latest syslinux, and the one on the unraid site, formatting each time after, and keep getting:

Could not find kernel image: linux

boot:

I then tried 4.4.2, and see bzroot decompressing (I assume the ...... means its decompressing). I briefly see "ready" and then the machine reboots. I've tried both the onboard video card and a discrete card (as was suggested in another thread).

-My USB key is a Sandisk 2GB Cruzer Micro U3 Smart USB 2.0 (I've removed U3)

-My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-MA785G-UD3H

What do I try from here?

2 things:

1.  Did you format the flash drive as FAT or FAT32 with the label of the drive being "UNRAID" - all upper case?

2.  When you ran syslinux, did you use the syslinux -ma f:  (or whatever drive letter the drive is with the -ma option)?

-FAT with a label of UNRAID (all upper case)

- yes with -ma

thanks for all the help...I i upgraded my motherboard to the latest bios (F5-beta) and it appears to be working (I'm able to boot into 4.5).  F4 was previously installed in case someone else runs into the same thing.
