RAID card configuration

Featured Replies

I have a pair of RAID cards, both 4 port SATAII cards based off the same controller. One is an Adaptec AAR 1430SA, and the other is a Highpoint RocketRAID 2300. Would I be able to simply plug these in and connect the drives to them? I've had them kicking around for a while, but never had a chance to check out how they work.

I plan on installing either one or both of them to allow me to add more drives to my existing server.

Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: updated title

I've used two different Rocket Raid 2xxx cards, make sure you get the quick boot firmware as it will force JBOD and... well boot quicker!

So you haven't had too many dramas with them?

Sweet, I'll chuck one in tonight.

Not with the quickboot firmware, no.

I don't suppose you'd happen to have a link handy? I've also never updated the firmware on a low end RAID card, will I have to try and dig out a floppy drive or can I do it over CD/USB?

Ask support for it, you have to do it through DOS, USB should be fine.
