March 9, 200719 yr So I'm happily running unRaid (finally ) with 8 data drives This morning I was copying 70G of DVDs to unRaid and had a whole-house power glitch (Welcome to Florida) When unRaid rebooted it immediately goes into a Parity-Check. Parity check is currently showing 115 sync errors (about 58% through check) . Does the Parity check "repair" parity, i.e. sync errors? Or do I need to regenerate Parity? If I need to regenerate, how? ALSO: Is it OK to continue to use the array when the Parity-Check is going on? Or do I need to wait for the Parity-Check to finish? Thanks!

It does repair/regenerate parity, so it is doing what it needs to do to fix the errors. The file that was in the process of being copied is probably corrupt (only part of it was copied) you will need to re-copy it. Yes, you can use the array while it is calculating parity. Your files will not be protected again from a hardware disk failure until the parity calc is completed though. Last... get a UPS. Even here in North Carolina we get routine afternoon thunderstorms in the summer with power glitches to keep things interesting. A UPS will make things much easier on your server. Joe L.
