October 28, 20169 yr Hello, Newbie and unRAID novice here, looking for setup assistance. Having consulted various locations, including YouTube and LimeTech Wiki, I'm still none the wiser really on how to setup a, what I thought, simple NAS with Media Server on one machine. The hardware: Case: X-Case D214 2U Rackmount Case PSU: Seasonic M12-II EVO 520 Drive cage: Icy Dock MB153SP-B FatCage Motherboard: Asus B150M-PLUS D3 Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB Processor: Intel i3-6100 Processor (3M Cache, 3.70 GHz) HDD: 3x WD 2TB Red, 1x 2TB Black, 1x Samsung 750 EVO SSD and 1x Sandisk SSD Plus 240. The plan in simple terms: Headless system, installed in 19" Rack, running unRAID with the 3x WD red and Samsung 750 SSD as NAS and using the 1x 2TB black with Sandisk SSD as a media server, running Windows 7 Professional on a Virtual Machine. So far, I have managed to start unRAID for the system, connect to the unit via network connection and to get an Array setup with parity check completed (using all disks). Trying to set up a VM, VM Manager tells me "Your hardware does not have Intel VT-x or AMD-V capability", but the unRAID GUI system information tells me: HVM: Disabled and IOMMU: Enabled - I checked in BIOS and VT-x is enabled, hence I'm mystified why HVM shows disabled. What am I doing wrong? Can I set the system up as I would like to or is it completely impossible? Would someone be able to point me into the right direction or even guide me through the next steps? Thank you very much.
October 29, 20169 yr Try checking for a motherboard BIOS update, sometimes that can make a big difference. If there isn't one or it doesn't help, I'll probably move you to the VM board, for more specific help.

I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, but so far I have been using only on-board graphics. Do I need to install an additional graphics card, before the system allows a virtual machine? I'm in process of getting the recommended XFX Radeon R5 230 card in any case. This post looks similar to what I'm looking for https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=43783.msg417986#msg417986 , but I'm not sure if that applies for my case as well and I don't know my way around Linux at all, sorry to say. :'(
