March 3, 201016 yr I use SyncToy 64bit on a Win7 64bit system to sync my documents and pictures across 3 computers. About 30-40% of the time, running SyncToy will crash the server, forcing a reboot which then causes a parity check. It is a serious pain in the ass, as this runs runs for about 7hrs long. Running 4.5 with 9 drives. Never had this problem with anything else. It is exclusive to only SyncToy and has been happening repeatedly for over a month. I'm just now getting fed up with it.

Well... you can either A. Try 4.5.3 (just released) B. Supply a syslog if you can capture one C. Do a tail-f /var/log/syslog if needed to capture the details of the crash D Use something other than SyncToy (Although that will just hide the issue, not fix it) We really can't help without some clues.. You might be running out of memory, you might be overheating, you might be hitting a file-system that has corruption and needs to have reiserfsck run against it. So many possibilities. When the server crashes, can you still log in at the console? If yes, they would let you capture the syslog. Joe L.
March 4, 201016 yr For a great Sync application, use AllwaySync. It is more flexible then SyncToy and you can easily schedule synchronizations/backups than SyncToy can do.
March 4, 201016 yr Author I'll try to get more info. Small amount of files (<500) or big files is no problem. For some reason, without over 1000 files to sync, half way through it just dies. I'll check out allsync thanks.
March 4, 201016 yr No worries, I think they have a 64Bit version, but it handles my backups fine. Cheers!
