User shares and active directory.

Set up my basic unraid tonight.

3 drives until my full key shows up.

Anyway just wondering how do you go about making a directory that spans several drives (user shares I assume) vs setting active directory permissions to control who can use and see that share?

Do I just create the share then right click the folder and set permissions or what? Or are the two forms of access not compatible?

you cant AD with free.

other then thats its self explanatory if you check the shares page. you might want to look at the wiki if you dont understand high water, etc.

Fair enough. I forgot I'm still running free until my key arrives.

I thought I understood but I guess I was under some false impressions because when I went to it in Windows and saw folders for each disk I realized it wasn't what I was expecting.

Hopefully I get my key soon and can snoop around some more.

I understand now.

Sorry for the silly questions.

Actually turns out that UserShares are more then enough for what I need.

Still glad I went pro though.
