Network help, router problem

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Just to preface I am pretty new to network stuff, I have a slight problem cocerning my setup and I was hoping to get some advice one. Any help would be great.

I have a cable modem, a switch Netgear GS605, and a router Linksys BEFSR41. With my cable modem plugged directly into my computer I get around 900-1000 KB/s with is normal. I also get this normal speed with the cable modem plugged into my the switch and my computer connect to that switch. The problem arises when i add the router into the mix.

When the cable modem plugs into the rounter, and the router plugs into the switch with my computer, my speed suddenly collapses to about 250-300 KB/s. Would this indicate the router is the problem? How could I resolve this problem?

Kind regards

Not quite sure how you are measuring speed. Are you measuring data transfer from one PC to the unRaid server? If so, how are the two connected in your various scenarios?
