Upgrading to test release

Featured Replies

Since I have never done this before, what is the proper procedure?  Exactly what files need to be copied from the test release onto a working flash drive whose contents have been backed up. My flash drive is a Lime Tech PRO drive.

I plan to do this on a windows system as it is much more convenient and simpler for me.  Do I need to copy the config folder? It seems that my config folder is quite different from the test version, ony looking at cfg items with the same names.

It seems to me all I should need is the new bizroot and bizimage files as all the other files that I have added to flash and the config/cfg files should be the ones I have been using.

Advice appreciated

Before you upgrade, make a backup of your entire flash drive just in case.  DO NOT store this backup on your unRAID server, store it somewhere else.

Assuming this is just like any other unRAID upgrade, you should only need to copy/replace bzroot and bzimage.  Leave your config folder as it is (if you overwrite that, you'll lose all your shares, your key, your settings etc.).  You can do this through a windows computer if you want, but you can also do it through unRAID's flash share.  Just copy/replace the files, then reboot the server.  It should boot up into 4.5.3-TEST first try.

You DO NOT need to format your flash drive, run syslinux, or any of that initial configuration stuff.

That is what I thought.  Thanks for the confirmation
