May 19, 201016 yr Hello all, Sorry if this is in the wrong section there is no 4.5 issue forum. I have been using UNRAID 4.5.3 (upgrading soon) for awhile now and never had a problem with playing video files over the network until I started with large files. The file I am trying to play is 34gb Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1920x1080 23.98fps [Video] Audio: DTS 48000Hz 6ch [Audio] Subtitle: UTF-8 [subtitle] When playing the file locally the computer uses <10% CPU usage and plays flawlessly so I know it's not the computer. It will also play fine when streaming from another computer on the network. The entire network is GB speed and when copying from the UNRAID server I receive 48MB/sec transfer rates and see ~50% network utilization on my PC. The UNRAID server sits at 4.7% usr and 22.5% sys CPU utilization. When I attempt to play the file while on the unraid server I only see 2-3% network utilization CPU usage stays the same however the movie is unwatachable. May 20, 201016 yr Author Hi, Thanks for the suggestion I will look into this one, one would think that it would cause more issues than just with streaming as everything else works fine. May 22, 201016 yr Are you talking about stuttering while watching the video file from your computer monitor or streaming to a media player (ie, WDTV Live) connected to your television?
May 22, 201016 yr The term stutter gets me a little confused. Does it apply to boith audio or video or both? I have seen a situation where the player skips forward a few seconds after logging an error. I have also seen a situation where the video appears jerky as opposed to smooth and the speech is not smooth but close to what would call a hesitation not a stutter since a stutter normally involves repetition not skipping. I am just trying to understand what people are referring to. By the way the above was with two different players.
