Able to setup windows 10 VM through VNC but can't reassign AMD radeon 290x as primary and boot

I'm running a 5820K with a 290x AMD radeon gpu card. It's the only card on the computer--5820k has no iGPU.

Is this a problem?

 

I checked the spreadsheet here and didn't see my series of graphics cards running windows so I'm not sure if I'm running into a hardware incompatibility.

Log file from VM when it boots but doesn't output signal to HDMI TV. Previous to booting the VM the unraid console displays correctly. On boot it goes to a black screen.

Feel odd for posting so soon.

 

I added <rom file='/mnt/user/isos/MSI.R9290X.8192.141029.rom'/>

to the xml file of the VM and rebooted and I get the TiancoCore screen displaying on my TV.

 

It shows a TianoCore screen that I've seen on the VNC before the display output shows up. It however isn't showing the OS..

Try to create a SeaBIOS VM intead of OVMF and see if it's working properly to pass through the GPU. If it's working fine, either use the SeaBIOS or power down the whole server and try again the OVMF one. Some AMD gpus have an issue with resetting and they can't be properly pass through if a crash or "force stop" occurs.

I have an R9 390 and Intel cpu with integrated graphics, but I'm using only the R9 to display unraid console and to pass it through for my VMs and everything works properly.

 

I don't think you need two discrete GPUs...
