July 27, 201015 yr I just rebooted my UnRaid server and when I tried to telnet into it, I got unable to connect to port 23 error, using the web (http://tower in my case), I got "Welcome to Nginx!" message on the screen. The server itself seems to be working just fine with all my SAMBA shares showing up in the Windows Explorer. How do I fix this? Thanks, Jaz
July 27, 201015 yr Try connecting via the server's IP address. For example http://192.168.0.100 If you don't know your server's IP address you will have to log into the server through the system console. Log in with the default username 'root' and a blank password. Then type 'ifconfig'. The IP address will be in the middle of all the stuff that command spits out. You can also check your router's settings page, most routers log the IP addresses of all devices on the network.
July 27, 201015 yr I believe there is a maximum number of active telnet sessions allowed (IIRC its 6) If a telnet session does not complete properly it may be tying up a session and if all the sessions are tied up then . . . Why not just stop the array and reboot unraid? That will destroy any hung sessions.

I would like to use unmenu, so would be great if I can get the server name to work instead of using the IP address. Thanks, Jaz

If so, Mackintosh PCs require YOU to add an entry to your "hosts" table on your MAC in order to use the server name. It is because the translation of the server name to address is a protocol not supported by MACs. It is a windows networking "feature" See here: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Un-Official_UnRAID_Manual under connecting to your server. Joe L. Joe L.
July 27, 201015 yr with regards to logging in to unraid via the server name (in my case "Tower") works just fine. If you are coming from windows you need netbios protocol activated or a lmhosts file in one of the windows directory or one of its folders.

I have both Mac and PC, and everything use to work just fine, I think something in my network configuration got changed, so I will have to restore it back to the way it was... Thanks for all your suggestions. Jaz
