Change Split-level

Featured Replies

Hi

I just installed unRAID on my server. I have a question regarding split level.

What happens when you change the split level on a existing share - let's say from 2 to 3.

Will it change the existing filestructure or will it use splitlevel 3 on files uploaded to the server from now on.

- or none of the above :-)

It will start using the new split level from the time you set it.

It will not change the current file structure.

That was a fast reply - thanks a lot

Another question if you have time :-)

In user shares - if you export your disk shares as read-only - will that affect the underlying usershares on that disk to be read-only also

If you make the change in the unix permissions, they affect both.

If you use the "Shares" tab on unRAID's  web-interface to make the "disk" shares exported as read only, it has no effect on the user-shares.

I personally often leave my user-shares set to read-only, and have my "disk" shares set to hidden/read/writable.  That allows me to copy and manage the files as needed through the disk shares, and prevents any changes from the media players.
