Dear All , 

I am quite new to this so please be patient .. thanks 

I would like to make a safe storage for my self , 

I am interested into this technology , so I have a server with ESXI 6.5 I will pass-though the HBA that a Disk shelf (DAS) is conected on it , with a lot of drives 12+ and then manage the drives with unRaid , is the possible ? 

are there any limitations ?  reading HBA models, drivers bla bla ? e.t.c 

as far as I know the Storanator guys are using HBA's from LSI and just they have there own back plane , 

because i don't want to go down that road I would like to use the DAS solution that is "guaranteed" that it will work out of the box 24/7 , 

has any one tried this before me ? (definitely .. ) 

will this be a viable solution ?

and you people are using ZFS .... right ?
